KYIV, Feb 21 – The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of Ukraine predicts that renewable energy facilities with a capacity of 1 GW will be launched in 2019, which is 25% more than in 2018, Director General of the Energy Markets Directorate of the ministry Olha Buslavets said at the conference devoted to the auction system of support to renewable energy in Ukraine held on Thursday.
She recalled that the share of renewable energy of total electricity generation in Ukraine is about 2%, while its share of the cost of electricity sold by all types of generation is about 9%. At the same time, renewable energy is in priority, receiving full payment for the electricity sold to the wholesale market, unlike other energy companies, the debt to which is about UAH 30 billion.
