KYIV, Feb 21 - The Cabinet of Ministers has allowed exporting hazardous waste for disposal abroad, the government said in a statement.
The Cabinet of Ministers adopted this resolution in November 2018, but the norm had not been valid until its publication.
"Ukraine today does not have safe technologies for the disposal of this type of hazardous waste like pesticides. Before 2015 they were exported to EU countries, in particular, Poland, Britain and France, which have the necessary capacity for the environmentally safe destruction of plant protection substances. But because of legislative gaps, the mechanism of cross-border transportation under the Basel Convention was blocked," Viktor Pohorily, the coordinator of the agrochemical committee of the European Business Association, said.
