KYIV, Jan 22 – Ukraine will receive the largest effect from the free trade area (FTA) agreement with Israel thanks to the Regional Convention on pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin (PEM Convention), which took into force for Ukraine from 2019, Director of Studies, Head of the Center for Economic Research of the Institute of Economic Research and Policy Consulting Veronika Movchan has said.
"Israel is not a major trading partner of Ukraine. Exports to this country are about 1%. However, like Ukraine, Israel has signed the FTA agreement with the EU and is also a signatory to the PEM Convention. Thus, in addition to the development of trade between our countries, the countries will develop trade within the Israel-Ukraine-EU triangle, that is, intermediate goods with zero import duty rates," she told Interfax-Ukraine.
