Growing railroad tariffs may hurt Ukraine’s confectionary exports to Central Asia
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, Oct 25 - The growth of tariffs for the rental of Ukrzaliznytsia wagons in November by 50.4%, to UAH 1,230 per day, could entail the reduction in exports of confectionery products to the countries of Central Asia, which are a traditional market for food producers, the Ukrkondprom association has said.

According to the association, the increase in Ukrzaliznytsia tariffs has already led to an increase in logistics costs and a 5% rise in the cost of confectionery products exported to the countries of Central Asia. In addition, a ban on transit through the territory of Russia led to a 43% drop in exports of confectionery products to the Central Asian countries.
