KIEV, June 16 ??“ Ukrainian Mobile Communications, or UMC, Ukraine's No. 2 cell phone company, boosted net profit 7% to $62 million in January through March, according to U.S. GAAP standards, the company reported Thursday.

"UMC continued to be a leader in term of new subscribers: in the first quarter 2006, the company's share in term of new subscribers was 42.5%," UMC Director General Adam Wojacki.
