KYIV, June 26 - Austria's Strabag, one of the largest construction companies in Europe, might soon announce its entry into the Ukrainian market, Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said.
Omelyan, speaking at a meeting with the European Business Association (Ukraine) a few days ago, said he recently held negotiations to this effect with Strabag management.
The stake in the company linked to Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska, who has been hit by U.S. and Ukrainian sanctions, has been frozen, so it cannot be a barrier to Strabag working in Ukraine, Omelyan said. Deripaska's Basic Element owned 25.9% of Strabag through Rasperia Trading Ltd. as of January 1, 2018.
