KYIV, May 7 - Chairman of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine Mykhailo Volynets noted a new wave of protests among miners of state-owned coal enterprises in connection with wage arrears.
"This morning, spontaneously, we did not even know about it at first, the miners and their wives in Selydove (Donetsk region) has come to the administration of the association [state enterprises Selydovevuhillia] ... The miners of the first shift of Novovolynska mine No. 9 today also have refused to go down into the mine because they are not paid wages," he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.
