KYIV, April 26 – Construction of a storage facility for used nuclear fuel will pay for itself in two years, and its filling is designed for 50 years, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.
"The construction of even the most modern storage facility pays for itself in 1.5-2 years... Our state will receive nuclear independence from Russia... Filling of the storage with spent fuel under the project... according to the information provided by Energoatom will be about 50 years," Poroshenko said during a meeting on improving the state policy on the revival of radioactively contaminated areas in the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant on Thursday.
