KIEV, May 29 ??“ Sixteen people, most of them members of the chief automobile inspection agency, survived a 24-floor plunge of an elevator at the Transportation Ministry after emergency brake system had switched on, officials said Monday.

Ten people were hospitalized after suffering different injuries and two of them will probably need surgeries, according to a spokeswoman for the Zaliznychnyi hospital in Kiev.
