DAVOS, Jan 24 - Maros Sefcovic, the Vice President of the European Commission in charge of the Energy Union, has invited Russia and Ukraine to discuss with each other future transit of Russian gas through Ukraine following the Stockholm arbitration ruling in their gas contract dispute.
"We discussed how Russian gas exports have developed over the course of the past year and we saw that supplies were fairly impressive. Transit of gas through Ukraine to Europe played a very important role. From our standpoint, this clearly shows that transit through Ukraine is very important and will remain important in future," Sefcovic told journalists at Russian House, organized by Roscongress at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
