KYIV, Dec 27 – President Petro Poroshenko and his fiercest political opponent, Mikheil Saakashvili, topped the 2017 Politician of the Year list in Ukraine, according to an opinion poll.

Some 10% of respondents named Poroshenko, followed by 7.3% scored by Saakashvili, the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, which released the poll, said.

Poroshenko and Saakashvili, once close allies, had the friendship fallen apart a year ago after Saakashvility had accused Poroshenko of corruption and slow reforms.
