KYIV, Nov 23 – Legislation providing for the presumed consent in the new draft of the bill on transplantation will give a positive impulse to the development of healthcare in Ukraine, Boris Todurov, Head of the Health Ministry's Heart Institute, said.
"Belarus seven years ago adopted such a law, including the presumed consent, and the number of transplant operations has increased 40-fold. We ask parliament deputies to adopt a similar bill including the presumed consent, but they reject it. There hasn't been one single criminal case in seven years in Belarus involving transplantation," Todurov told journalists on Thursday at the international Reconstructive Heart Surgery Conference in Kyiv.
