KYIV, Sept 4 - Ukraine cut coal production by 9.4% year-on-year in January-August, to 23.592 million tons, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.

Coking coal output fell by 24.5%, to 4.497 million tons and production of steam coal by 5% to 19.095 million tons.

State run mines reduced production by 20.9%, to 3.143 million tons, with coking coal output down 49.8%, to 567,600 tons and steam coal output falling by 9.4%, to 2.576 million tons.
