KYIV, Aug 30 - Vienna's Regional Court on August 29 rejected a request from the Spanish law-enforcement agencies to extradite Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash, the Austrian Kurier daily newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The court found the documents that arrived from Barcelona are insufficient to justify the European warrant for the arrest of Firtash, it said.
Kurier also cites the defenders of the Ukrainian businessman, former Austrian Justice Minister Dieter Bohmdorfer and Rudiger Schender, who say they think such a decision by the Vienna court confirms the political motivation for the extradition that the Spanish law-enforcement agencies attempted to arrange at the request of the United States.
