KIEV, July 5 – Ukraine’s greenhouse gas emissions rose 7.7% on year in 2016 after the country was forced to switch from cleaner natural gas to dirtier sources of energy like coal, a senior official said Tuesday.

Ukraine produced 3.07 million metric tons of emission in 2016, up from 2.85 million mt in 2015, Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Ostap Semerak said.
