KIEV, June 29 – Ukraine has transferred Assigned Amount Units (AAUs) into a retirement account to comply with the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol's first commitment period, the press service of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has reported.
"The national electronic register of anthropogenic emission and greenhouse gas absorption of Ukraine was disconnected in August 2015. The country failed to comply under the Kyoto Protocol's first commitment period… In the past year the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry managed to restart the national register and meet all the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol Compliance Committee," the press service said.
