KIEV, June 8 - A small device exploded overnight on the premises of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine's capital Kiev, police reported Thursday.

No one was injured in the explosion that occurred just after midnight and the identity of the assailant was not immediately known.

Police have not speculated on the motives behind the act. Kiev police have deployed an investigative team and explosives experts to determine the nature of the device.
