KHARKIV, May 26 – Problems identified with BTR-4s armored personnel carriers delivered under the so-called "Iraq contract" in 2011-2013 were connected with the improper maintenance of the vehicles by the Iraqi side. The problems were solved quickly by work teams dispatched to fix the problems, research staff member of the Kharkiv-based Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau Andriy Bohach said.
"The BTRs delivered were received by the technical inspection team from Iraq's defense ministry, which found them functional and began using them. …Problems [which arose] were connected, first and foremost, to incorrect maintenance," Bohach told journalists on Thursday.
