Ukraine’s average vehicle age is 19.6 years, worst since 2000
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, April 5 – The average age of vehicles in Ukraine is 19.6 years, the worst indicator since 2000, Volodymyr Shevchenko, the head of the Motor Insurance Bureau, said Tuesday.

More than 9.1 million vehicles are registered in Ukraine, including 53.4% of vehicles made either in the former Soviet Union or the Commonwealth of Independent States.

“Over 20% of passenger cars and commercial vehicles are made before 1985,” Shevchenko said. “The most popular are VAZ, GAZ and ZAZ.”
