KIEV, April 13 - Ukraine's deficit in trade with goods widened to about $1 billion in the first two months of the year, raising concerns the hryvnia may decline amid downward pressure persisting since early January.
The ???real bad??? trade statistics make it harder for the central bank to prop up the hryvnia as imports rise, while exports decline, Timothy Ash, economist at Bear Stearns International in London, said.
