KIEV, March 6 - Ukraine is expecting the United Nations International Court of Justice (ICJ) to make a judgment that would satisfy its legal claims for temporary measures to be imposed as part of Ukraine's case against Russia to hold it accountable "for committing acts of terrorism and discrimination," Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Olena Zerkal said.
"We believe we have every reason to expect the court to make a positive decision because we are not asking for anything excessive, something that would be outside this court's competence. Nor are we asking for anything that would be beyond the country that signed these obligations under the Convention," Zerkal, who is leading the Ukrainian delegation at the UN ICJ in The Hague (the Netherlands), told journalists after a court hearing on Monday.
