KIEV, April 3 ??“ RusAl, the major Russian aluminum producer, postponed plans for building a smelter in Ukraine as the high price of power would make the smelter unprofitable, a senior company official said.

RusAl pledged to build the smelter capable of producing 200,000 metric tons of aluminum annually after it had purchased a 30% stake in Mykolayiv Alumina Plant in 2000.
