KIEV, Oct. 10 - It is impossible to fire employees in Ukrzaliznytsia central office under Ukrainian law because they are on sick leave, Ukrzaliznytsia Chairman Wojciech Balczun complained.

"Today we have an epidemic of pancreatitis at Ukrzaliznytsia with doctors' certificates, without tests, but with a diagnosis from private clinics. Why should be maintain the sector hospital if our people all of a sudden 'get weak' and apply for treatment just anywhere?" he said on Facebook.

He said there are resignation applications with an open date from some managers of Ukrzaliznytsia.
