KIEV, Oct. 4 – Timber exports from Ukraine increased by 22% in H1, from 900 tons to 1.1 million tons despite the moratorium on exports of round timber, parliament Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship Chairman Viktor Halasiuk said at a round table dedicated to the moratorium on exports of round timber.
"Exports of round timber in the first half of 2016 decreased by 400,000 tons, to one million tons compared with the same period of 2015. However, exports of wood increased by 200,000 tons. We understand that this is a sign of potential smuggling," he said, citing data from the State Fiscal Service.
