ODESSA, Sept. 29 – The National Bank of Ukraine projects the deficit of the current account of the country's balance of payment this year at $1.8 billion and does not anticipate the deficit will significantly expand next year, Deputy NBU Governor Oleh Churiy has said.
"It [the deficit] is easily covered by borrowing and because the population sells more currency than buys… The consolidated balance of payment will have a surplus, and the NBU has a chance to replenish its reserves," he said at the Ukrainian Financial Forum organized by ICU in Odessa on September 29 and September 30.
