KIEV, Sept. 13 - Ukraine’s biggest private mining and power generating company DTEK plans to increase coal output by 25.2% to 17.4 million metric tons in the second half of the year, compared with 13.9 million mt extracted in H1, the company reported Tuesday.
DTEK is seeking to increase output to meet strong demand from coal-burning power generation plants during the upcoming high-demand season. The company also plans to step up coal imports from Poland and South Africa in the near future to get ready for the winter.
