Finance minister: IMF will back EFF despite Moscow's opposition
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Sept. 13 – Ukraine expects that the majority of board members of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would support the decision to provide a third $1.7 billion tranche to Kiev under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program despite Russia's statement about its intent to vote against, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk said.

"At the previous voting Russia has never backed the IMF's decisions to provide tranches to Ukraine under EFF program. Despite this fact, the IMF twice made positive decisions," he said in comments provided to Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

Danyliuk recalled that the IMF Executive Board makes decisions by the majority of votes. Russia has the same right to vote as any other board member.
