KIEV, July 29 – Net currency purchase by banks from the public has reached $1.6 billion since early 2016, thanks to growth of currency supply on the cash currency market, National Bank of Ukraine Governor Valeriya Gontareva said at a press conference in Kiev.

She said that the NBU over the period held 71 currency auctions and one currency intervention at the fixed exchange rate. Net currency purchase by the central bank in H1 totaled $1.4 billion.
