KIEV, June 28 - Ukraine is facing a power sector crisis and needs to limit energy consumption during the next two months to avoid power cutoffs, the energy and coal sector ministry warned Monday.

The problem comes after regions controlled by pro-Russian militants suspended supplies of anthracite coal to the mainland Ukraine on June 1.

The ministry had several emergency meetings on Friday to balance out the power generation and consumption before making the call on limiting power consumption.
