KIEV, April 18 – Ukraine's exports to Kazakhstan fell 49% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2016 due to Russia's transit restrictions imposed since the beginning of this year and 48% to the other countries in the region – Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan), according to a statement submitted by Ukraine to the World Trade Organization.
Ukrainian exports of agricultural products with a short shelf life, with the new transit conditions introduced by Russia, may be brought to zero. Amid these conditions the transit of perishable goods will have huge transportations risks, Ukraine said.
