KIEV, March 28 – The share of illegal cigarettes on the Ukrainian marketshrank to 1.1-1.2% by late 2015 from 10% in 2013, Philip Morris Ukraine Director General Artem Chernis said.
The business of cigarette smuggling has become less profitable thanks to the laws passed in 2013 and 2014 and measures taken by the government, as well as thanks to devaluation of the national currency. This segment in 2013 reached 10%, but early last year it started tumbling and reached 1.1-1.2% by the end of last year," he said.
