KIEV, Dec. 29 – The transfer of part of public procurement of medicines to international organizations removes the problem of corruption only at one of the stages on the way of medicines coming to patients, as it does not change the access-to-medicines system in general, and the way out of the situation could be the reimbursement system, the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (AIPM Ukraine) has said.
"The position of AIPM Ukraine is the negative assessment of the centralized medicine procurement system in general. Society pays too much attention to some progress in the system, not paying due attention to the defectiveness of this mechanism for patients. Transferring public medicine procurement to international organization, officials have resolved the problem of corruption only at the stage of purchase of medicines from manufacturers," the association said.
