KIEV, Dec. 22 - President Petro Poroshenko is confident that the launch of a new Rivne nuclear power plant–Kiev substation power grid will allow the government to avoid rolling blackouts in Kiev and Kiev region.
"First of all, this increases the energy independence of our state. Secondly, this improves the energy security of our country, the third thing is that this makes the work of the entire energy complex in the country much more efficient and cost-effective," he said after the launch of the Rivne NPP-Kiev substation power grid in Kiev.
The president stressed that in 2014 the share of nuclear energy in Ukraine's power system exceeded 48%.
