KIEV, Dec. 15 - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Polish President Andrzej Duda say they view the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project as political, rather than economic, in its nature, and, therefore, insist that it should not be implemented.
"We separately discussed energy security, and I would like to thank Poland for providing the essential conditions for completing the feasibility study for building an interconnector, supporting the continued use of the [existing] gas transport facilities to transport gas to Europe and opposing the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project. This is Ukraine's and Poland's firm position. We maintain coordination with our partners from Slovakia […] and a huge number of EU countries," Poroshenko told journalists following negotiations with Duda in Kiev on Tuesday.
