KIEV, Dec. 7 – The Nord Stream 2 project is not in the interest of Ukraine and the European Union, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said.

"We are appealing to our European partners to ensure the toughest possible inspection of the Nord Stream 2. We believe this project was blocked as it is neither in the EU, nor Ukraine's interests: not only does it deprive Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland of billions of dollars in revenue, it also leaves the EU without real competition on the European market and increases the monopoly of Russia's Gazprom," Yatseniuk told a press conference held jointly with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn in Brussels on Monday.
