KIEV, Sept. 16 - Parliament voted Wednesday to approve a bill that kills a deal with Russia to build two new nuclear power reactors at Khmelnytskiy Nuclear Power Plant, Parliament’s press service reported.
The bill was backed by 234 lawmakers in the 450-seat Parliament, indicating support mostly from pro-government groups.
The vote is crucial in order to go ahead with the government’s plan to replace the Russian company Atomstroiexport with the Czech company Skoda JS in the project to complete the two reactors.
