MOSCOW, Sept. 4 - Russia will be ready to provide Ukraine with a discount on gas bought for Q4, the price will be level with the prices for Ukraine's neighboring countries, for example, with Poland, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on air on Rossiya-24 television channel.
He did not speak about the concrete price, noting that it will be "slightly lower" than the price for Q3, which was offered to Ukraine.
"In the fourth quarter, the Russian side will be ready to provide gas at discounted, competitive prices, the same that have taken shape in neighboring countries, for example, Poland. But here the question is whether the Ukrainian side will ask us for a discount. We will not consider this on our own initiative, because we have a contract and the contract stipulates a price formula," he said.
