KIEV, Aug. 25 - Electricity consumption in Ukraine in January-July 2015, including in-process losses in the Ukrainian grids, decreased by 11.7% compared to the same period in 2014, to 89.035 billion kWh.
A source in the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry told Interfax-Ukraine that electricity consumption, excluding in-process losses in the Ukrainian grids, for the period decreased by 12.6%, to 70.444 billion kWh.
Industrial companies, excluding in-process losses, reduced energy consumption by 19.6%, to 29.684 billion kWh. In particular, steel industry consumed 17.179 billion kWh (a 16% fall compared to January-July 2014), fuel sector – 2.741 billion kWh (a 42.5% fall), engineering – 2.116 billion kWh (an 18.8% fall), chemical and petrochemical – 1.823 billion kWh (a 23.6% fall), food and processing – 2.277 billion kWh (a 12.4% fall), construction materials – 1.138 billion kWh (an 11.3% fall), others – 2.409 billion kWh (a 13.9% fall).
