KIEV, Aug. 3 – The balance of assets in Ukraine's treasury account as of August 3 was estimated at UAH 33.27 billion, a fivefold year-over-year increase, the State Treasury Service reported on Monday.
The assets in the treasury account grew by UAH 7.87 billion, or 30.8% in July 2015 alone, hitting a record high in the history of Ukrainian independence.
The previous record of UAH 27.75 billion was registered two months before. It had been the record high since December 2005, when Ukraine accumulated UAH 27.35 billion after the sale of Kryvorizhstal steel mill. At the same time, the sum in the dollar equivalent at the current official forex rate was $5.42 billion, whereas it is currently 3.5 times down, being $1.57 billion.
