KIEV, July 20 – President Petro Poroshenko said the holding of local elections in certain districts of Donbas is possible after the self-declared republics in the area clearly state that they will not hold pseudo-elections in the territories outside of Ukraine's control on October 18 and November 1.
"The head of state proposed that the subgroup for political issues should to be guided that a further fruitful discussion of the organization of local elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions is possible just after there is a clear statement on refusal of intentions to carry out pseudo-elections on October 18 and November 1," the presidential press service reported on the results of Poroshenko's meeting with Ukrainian envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kuchma and representatives of Ukraine in working subgroups of the group on political, security, social-economic and humanitarian issues.
