KIEV, July 16 - Ukraine may ask the European Union for help in persuading Russia to allow transit of Central Asian natural gas from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, an official said Thursday.

Ukraine and Kazakhstan were holding an intergovernmental meeting in Kiev on Thursday to discuss energy and trade issues. Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn joined the meeting.
