KIEV, June 25 – Citizens of the six largest EU member states – Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK and Poland, think that in order to achieve European integration, Ukraine must get rid of corruption, oligarchs and poverty, according to a poll conducted by TNS company and commissioned by the Institute of World Policy.
The poll's results were presented at a press conference in Kiev on Wednesday.
When answering the question "what arguments against Ukraine's joining the EU can you make?" 35% of the respondents said that Ukraine has to overcome corruption first, 26% said it has to get rid of oligarchs, and 22% thought that Ukraine was a poor country and would be a difficult burden on the EU.
