KIEV, June 18 - Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy of the European Union Johannes Hahn believes that the EU will be able to provide Ukraine with a first tranche of EUR 600 million as part of the third macro-financial assistance package in a few weeks.
"There should also be support with the money, so that this difficult situation, in which the country (Ukraine) has found itself, could be resolved. That is why I am pleased that the Verkhovna Rada ratified the third package of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine which totals EUR1.8 billion. I'm pretty sure that in a few weeks we will be able to provide Ukraine with the first tranche of this package in the amount of EUR 600 million," he said at a joint press conference with the President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev on Thursday.
