KIEV, May 6 – President Petro Poroshenko met with Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni on Wednesday to discuss the future of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, the Ukrainian presidential press service reported.
"The parties discussed the process of the ratification of the [EU-Ukraine] Association Agreement by the EU's parliaments and its implementation by Ukraine. The head of state called on Italy to speed up the ratification of the Agreement by the two chambers of [that country's] parliament. Seventeen countries have already ratified the document," the report said.
On May 7, the ratification of the document will be considered by France's Senate. "Taking into consideration the high level of our bilateral relations, we expect a positive decision by the parliament of Italy," Poroshenko said.
