KIEV, March 2 – The outflow of funds from banking deposits has totaled UAH 17.2 billion since early 2015, National Bank of Ukraine Governor Valeriya Gontareva said.

"The NBU is issuing refinancing only for the outflow of deposits of individuals in the sum of guaranteed deposits. Why do we do this? Outflow in the system is registered without let-up… Since early 2015 outflow came to UAH 17.2 billion, and the NBU spent UAH 4.7 billion to pay the guaranteed deposits. The rest of the sum to return deposits was covered by their own liquidity of banks," she said at a conference organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, held in Kiev on February 27.
