Russian finance minister rejects Kiev debt restructure request
Journal Staff Report

ISTANBUL, Feb. 11 - Ukraine has asked Russia to agree to a debt restructuring, but Russia is not prepared to reschedule or postpone repayment of the debt, because it is interested in getting back the foreign currency it has invested in Ukrainian eurobonds, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told journalists.

"Ukraine has requested a restructuring of debt. I had conversations with my Ukrainian colleague," he said.

'The return of resources invested at one time in the obligations of another country is very important. For that reason, we are not prepared to offer a postponement or rescheduling," he said.
