Ukraine captures 74 Russian settlements
KYIV, Aug 13 - Ukraine said on Tuesday its biggest cross-border assault of the war to date had taken control of 74 settlements in Russia's region of Kursk and was still advancing, making gains of one to three km in the last 24 hours, Reuters reported.

Fitch downgrades Ukraine's credit rating to ‘restricted default’
KYIV, Aug 15 – The international rating agency Fitch Ratings on Saturday night downgraded Ukraine's foreign-currency long-term issuer default rating (IDR) from "C" to "RD" (restricted default), while the Standard & Poor's agency downgraded Ukraine's foreign-currency long-term and short-term ratings from "CC/" to "SD/SD" (selective default).

EU, 42 nations urge Russia to withdraw from Zaporizhia nuclear power plant
KYIV, Aug 15 – The European Union and 42 states of the world issued a statement in which they called on Russia to immediately withdraw its troops from Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP) in the town of Enerhodar, Zaporizhia region and not interfere with the operator and the Ukrainian authorities to fulfill their obligations on nuclear and radiation safety, and the International the Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to carry out its mandate.

Police studying video of mayor’s death
KYIV, Aug 16 – A video surveillance footage taken at the home of Konstantin Pavlov, a mayor of Kryviy Rih who was found dead on Sunday, shows presence of no other people nearby, a local police chief said Monday.
