KIEV, Sept. 16 – Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on Wednesday appointed Oleksandr Savchenko, the recently resigned central banker, as a deputy finance minister.

KIEV, Sept. 14 – President Viktor Yushchenko has complained about the non-transparency of the financial liabilities and agreements that Ukraine has taken on under the Geneva agreements on the introduction of digital television that it signed in 2006.


2010 presidential campaign cost could reach $1 billion, says analyst

KIEV, Sept. 15 – The cost of the presidential campaign could be up to $1 billion, according to Denys Bogush, vice president of the Ukrainian PR-League.

"The main candidates might spend more, but not less. The cost of these elections will be up to $1 billion," he said.


Ukraine and Turkmenistan sign cooperation protocol in Ashgabat

ASHGABAT, Sept. 15 – The foreign ministries of Ukraine and Turkmenistan signed a protocol on cooperation after talks in Ashgabat on Tuesday.

In addition, the agriculture ministries of Ukraine and Turkmenistan signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of testing and protecting sorts of plants.


Economy minister discusses trade with South African ambassador
