Finance Ministry seeks to step up borrowing to bridge 2021 budget gap

KYIV, Sept 14 - The draft state budget for 2021 assumes an increase in borrowings to finance the general fund of the state budget by UAH 64.2 billion, or 10.3%, to UAH 684.7 billion, of which government domestic loan bonds will amount to UAH 549.1 billion, such data were given by the Ministry of Finance.


Zelenskiy warns EU over risk from Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline

KYIV, Sept 15 – The Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline poses a risk to Europe's energy security, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Vienna and Kyiv have different views on the situation around the construction of the pipeline, he said at a joint briefing with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in Vienna on Tuesday.

KIEV, Sept. 16 – Parliament has voted in favor of a law "On amendments into some laws of Ukraine on fixing a date of the beginning of temporary occupation", which sets February 20, 2014 as the official date of the beginning of Crimea's occupation by the Russian troops.


Ukraine should have enough gas stored by winter, energy minister says

KIEV, Sept. 16 – Ukraine is to accumulate 16-18 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas in its underground storage facilities by winter, which should be enough to ensure a comfortable heating season, Energy and Coal Industry Ministry Volodymyr Demchyshyn said.
