Ukraine death toll over 4,700, more than 10,000 wounded, UN reports

KIEV, Dec. 15 - At least 4,707 people have been killed in eastern Ukraine since the middle of April, the United Nations said.

According to the latest estimates of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the World Health Organization, at least 4,707 people were killed and 10,322 were wounded in the conflict-ridden areas of eastern Ukraine from the middle of April through December 12, says the eighth report of the UN human rights monitoring mission posted on Monday.


International donors dissatisfied with Ukraine reform, NBU chief says

KIEV, Dec. 16 – Ukraine’s international donors are not satisfied with the pace of reforms in the country, National Bank of Ukraine Governor Valeriya Gontareva said at a meeting with representatives of the largest banks in Ukraine held at the NBU on Monday.

EP resolution calls October elections ‘a step backwards’ from 2010

STRASBOURG, Dec. 13 – The European Parliament has expressed regret at the fact that, according to international observers' evaluations, the 2012 parliamentary elections in Ukraine failed to meet major international standards "and constitute a step backwards compared with the national elections in 2010."
